The Good Oils
When it comes to caring for your skin the right carrier oils are essential. Cold pressed plant, nut and seed oils are filled with vitamins, omega fatty acids and phyto-nutrients that are not found in refined and heat-treated oils. These naturally occurring nutrients have great skin saving benefits. They are antioxidant, regenerative, improve skin hydration and protect cells from moisture loss. Specific carrier oils contain naturally occurring chemicals that improve wrinkles, protect from sun damage, balance sebum and exfoliate skin cells.
I use cold pressed carrier oils in my skincare range. They are also sourced from ‘Certified Organic’ suppliers so there is no pesticide residue. They are not heavily oily and work to maintain a natural balance for your skin. Try the Facial Treatment Oils in place of a moisturiser, in addition to your normal moisturiser or as a skin prep before makeup.
Your skin absorbs about 60% of what is applied to it. So, your daily cosmetic routine could be adding to your toxic load. Many cosmetic ingredients are harmful to your health and while your body does attempt to eliminate many toxins from your system it is worth considering the daily constant exposure can lead to long term health problems. Apart from dermatological and detoxification issues such as allergies, dermatitis, asthma and headaches/migraine, cosmetic ingredients have been shown to accumulate in body tissue and cause endocrine problems. Phthalates, for example, are found in most perfumes, perfumed products and skincare as texturisers and fragrance extenders. They are linked to fertility disorders and should be avoided especially in pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Look out for parabens, DEA diethanolamineand DEA derivatives, TEA triethanolamine and TEA derivatives, Sodium laurethsulfate, UV filters: benzophenones: benzophenone-2 (BP2) and oxybenzone, preservatives: Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), UV filters: Homosalate, Homomenthyl salicylate HMS, preservatives: Methylisothiazolinone (MIT) and Methylchloroisothiazolinone (CMIT), perfume stabiliser and preservative: Phenoxyethanol, stabiliser and binder:Polyacrylamide; acrylamide; polyacrylate, phthalates:phthalate, DEP, DBP, DEHP and fragrance. The best option is to choose another product without these.
My perfumes and skincare are guaranteed to be toxin free. I have created the formulas myself and continue to blend them using natural, tried and trusted ingredients.
